Elisha Cuthbert is best known in Canada, where she was born and began her acting career, as the former host of Popular Mechanics for Kids. She moved to Los Angeles at 17 and gave herself six months to secure a start on an American acting career. She met her deadline with the role of Kim Bauer in the now acclaimed TV series, 24.

After minor roles in Old School and Love Actually, she starred as a burgeoning porn star in The Girl Next Door, which opened to mixed reviews. Her next outing, House of Wax, was largely panned, although critics singled Cuthbert out for playing her role earnestly.

Cuthbert's latest project, an indie film, The Quiet, involves her talents as both star and co-producer. The Quiet premiered at the 2005 Toronto International Film Festival. It has yet to receive a wide release.

Cuthbert is a devoted hockey fan and Los Angeles Kings season ticket holder, and did a blog on the NHL website. Her brother and mother both play on teams in Canada.
